What type of flooring systems does Garage Sealers offer?
We offer solid colors, light and heavy chip floors and complete granitex flooring. All of our floors come in a variety of colors and have a polyurethane topcoat finish, which provides a more attractive and durable finish. Garage Sealers also offers Color Fuse and Acid Stain systems.
How is the garage floor prepped prior to putting down the epoxy?
Preparing the concrete is the most important step in the installation process. We will first remove all oil stains from the floor using degreasing products. Any minor cracks and pits in the surface will be repaired. Floor machines will then be run over the concrete and an acid etch will be performed with muratic acid. We then neutralize the floor with an ammonia-based product.
How long does it take for Garage Sealers to install my new floor?
olid Colors and Light/Heavy Chip Floors can be installed in two days. Granitex Floors will take three days to install. Solid Color Floors have two coats; one coat of epoxy and a topcoat of polyurethane. Chip Floors have at least three coats and Granitex floors have up to five coats.
How long before I can walk on the floor?
Light foot traffic is acceptable after 24 hours however Garage Sealers recommends waiting up to 48 hours if possible.
How long before I can put my car back in the garage?
It is imperative that all vehicles are kept off of the garage floor for a minimum of five days. This will allow for the topcoats to completely cure. Vehicles driven or parked on the surface without allowing this time to pass will result in tire marks or potential damage to the floor.
What do you recommend using to clean my floor?
Garage Sealers recommends using 4-6 ounces of ammonia per one gallon of water in a bucket along with a damp string mop to clean the floor. Be sure to fully ring out the mop before using on the floor to avoid streaking or watermarks.
Is the floor slippery when it gets wet and what can I do to avoid this?
Because the finished surface is much smoother than concrete, the floors can tend to be more slippery when wet. Also, if you use a soap based cleaner to clean the floor (rather than the cleaning method noted above), this problem may be increased. Garage Sealers recommends using a non-slip additive to the epoxy in order to avoid in this concern.
What can I expect regarding how long my new floor will last?
If maintained properly, our floors should have a life expectancy of at least 10 years. The combination of our preparation techniques and quality of product ensure that you will have a beautiful garage floor to enjoy for many years to come.
Do you offer a warranty?
All residential flooring done under roof (i.e. Garages, interiors, etc.) carries a 5-year limited warranty against peeling, staining, or material defects, as long as the floor is properly maintained as recommended by Garage Sealers.
